Unified design systems are essential to building, maintaining, and evolving our sites and products efficiently. They help us create cohesive user experiences and empower disparate teams to work from a common language.
Ideally, a design system should be flexible and scalable. However, creating a unified system that can serve a variety of content and use cases is challenging. Too much emphasis on modularity can lead us to create design patterns without context to the ecosystem around them.
In this workshop, Yesenia will share strategies and methodologies for creating flexible design systems. You’ll learn how to use user scenarios to help identify design patterns, how to balance big picture goals while designing small components, how to document patterns, and how to scale a design system.
